Theoretical components of the required competencies for people wishing to obtain a Use Licence and Radiation Safety Officer certificate for laser cosmetic and medical procedures.

This course follows Australian and New Zealand Standards - AS/NZS 4173:2018 Safe use of Lasers and Intense Light Sources in Health Care.  It is the same course content as our normal 1-day Doctors-only and 2-day Laser Safety Officer courses, however, it is offered in a very condensed 1-day version, for dentists (and staff) who have limited time available. Many dentists already have laser safety certification but this course concerns itself with aesthetic lasers, which some dentists are becoming interested in.  As some dental lasers are able to perform facial aesthetic procedures, this course encompasses the wavelengths, tissue interactions, protocols and safety issues surrounding aesthetic laser treatments.  Treatment documentation, policies and procedures are discussed and examples are provided for individual customisation.  It is expected that participants will be able to move through the formal content at a reasonable pace, leaving time to discuss aesthetic treatments and the issues of skin colour, photosensitive drugs, aesthetic consultations, test patching and other contra and special precautions.

This course is ideal for dentists and dental nursing staff who are considering entering the aesthetic laser market, whether they already use dental lasers or are totally new to lasers.
